‘Pardoes Yard’, Church Walk opposite St Margaret’s Church, Ward End. There was double fronted house that had a sandpit at the rear. When filled in the land was rented out to Gypsy family’s in their caravans.This is Mrs Pardoe with the goose, her granddaughter in the foreground and two Gypsy children to the right. There was a man called Joe Dantey who live in hut in the yard, he was a bit of a local charter. The Pardoe’s also had a son who was boxed in the 1932 Olympic games and won a bronze medal.
