New London Transport Buses

Novelty

knowlegable brummie
I see that the new buses which are to operate in London, those with the open rear exits are to be made in Egypt of all places. What are we thinking of in this country to allow this to happen? I am sure that if they were still in business the best bus manufacturer in the country, the Washwood Heath based Metro-Cammell would have loved the opportunity to build these. I remember well the quality of the Birmingham buses they built on the 40's & 50's plus the Metrobus model they built for many operators in the 80's.
Another casualty of our short sighted sale of GEC to Alsthom.
