Reading all this history about Alrewas makes me very happy and perhaps a little sad at the same time. My grandfather had a farm there pre-war and each weekend we drove from Aston to visit him. In winter it was very foggy through Trent Valley and on one occasion my mother walked in front of the car with a newspaper on her butt for dad to follow in case we finished up in the cut. We kids wound down the car windows shouting 'Giddeup and move it Alice', lovely memories still shared with those of us still around. I can still remember when they built those big hangers , on the left, as you drove into the left hand turn to the village. Kind regards, David.Last few

The Normandy Landings – codenamed Operation Neptune - were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy which took place on 6 June 1944. It was the largest seaborne invasion in history and began the offensive of German-occupied Western Europe, which led to an Allied victory in the Second World War. The service will include a wreath laying, and a silence, at the Normandy Veterans Memorial. The Bolesterstone Male Voice Choir will also be perfomring outside the Visitor Centre after the service.
