Nancy

If we know her name, then maybe we could find out more about her.

She looks very much like a lady that appeared on one of the Midland TV channels many years ago, filmed in her local.

Nancy may be one of three pictures of the same pub. If she is the lady who appeared on the TV then it may be an avenue to lead to the name of the pub.

hi pedro yes i agree with you... i said on another thread that i thought that 3 photos jim has posted could have been taken at the same pub so i have kept them all together should we find out the location...will have a look at your link later on..

thanks pedro

Looks like a pint of Ansells or M&B mild.

Correct me if I am wrong, but at the time of the picture M&B pubs were more prone to use mugs, and Ansells the thinner straight glass?

The straight sided, with a pronounced ridge for better holding, beer glass was a 'nonic'.

As far as the lady is concerned, I am more interested in her occupation. It would appear that she worked hard, especially with her hands.

Looking at the Thread "Corner Shop" Phill says it is on the corner of Wenman Street and Edward Road. Things have changed much since the picture was taken, but the GE street view shows The Clock on the other corner. The Clock (disputed) has a thread of its own started by Astonian...

“It was about half way up edwards road just short of the police station and just up from the cannon.”

Don't think the Cannon Hill is still a pub. I am sure I read somewhere it is a women's centre. Will try to find where I read it.
