My Streets

My Streets

I walked those places long ago
The back streets that I came to know
As Aston, this was my place then
These times not coming back again

Not coming back for all is changed
Now all the streets are rearranged
The friends I knew now longer there
Now only memories I can share

For still my thoughts remain with me
These thoughts will let my family see
A life so different now today
Than places where I used to play

My childhood days I'll not forget
Though modern times are better yet
My mind still travels to a time
When Aston was a place of mine

Thank you both

Thank you very much for replying. I have edited the poem slightly as I had two lines that were very similar, hope the change does not detract from the original version. val
