MIGRATORY BIRD

In wintertime when all is austere and dun
And vacated nest waits for summers sun.
Will the migrant Cuckoo in mirthless jest
Seek out the unguarded Blackbirds nest?
Then with natures intent commit her all
To lay one egg among Blackbirds four
Mottled Blue, the stranger Gray Brown,
The Cuckoo's chick the nest soon to own
As it shoulders to the brink of nests lip
Poor Blackbirds brood outwards to tip.
And in considerate state  the parents feed
The result of Migratory birds tainted deed.

Ahhaaa back with a vengence here Robert as my mom used to say.......

We used to hear the Cuckoo each year where we live, but sadly not of late? I did get to see one early June when camping in Wales.
