MAURICE Gents Hairdresser Stoney Lane Sparkbrook

meldrew

Brummie babby
Anybody remember or use Maurice the 1950's gents hair stylist in Stoney Lane, Sparkbrook, [near thr barracks].

He was the man for the DA, Tony Curtis, etc etc and a mecca for us teddy boys.

I had the DA and appeared on the front page of the Birmingham Mail about
1954, taken as his model at a Hairdressers Federation do at Springhill Ice Rink.

Maurice had trainees Shirley and David, who later set up on the Stratford Road. Are they still around?

I remember myself and Taffy Price going there in about 1955/56 on our way home from school. We had a crew cut and when I got home, my mother wasn't impressed!
