Marks & Isaacs - Birmingham

Does anyone know anything about this company from around the 1880's ??

I believe it may be the original name of Marks & Spencers, as Michael Marks had met Isaac Dewhirst to form a company but Dewhirst suggested Marks speak to his accountant, Thomas Spencer instead about the venture.

I might be barking up the wrong tree but I've always found everyone on here very helpful and knowledgeable.

Any help would be great.

Regards

Simon

Hi Carolina,

Yes, that's where I got my info from but it doesn't actually mention the company ever being called Marks & Isaacs before it became M&S.
