If you go to the first post on https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/birmingham-1969-73.23229/, then I would guess that the photo you refer to would be the back of the buildings in the third one down. Anyway, they were all commercial in Jamaica Row
I see that the Black Swan is shown on the map. We used to go there for a great breakfast after doing business in the wholesale market. Not sure if I've mentioned this before on another thread but in the dining room on the first floor there was a Mynah bird in a cage. The market traders and porters took great delight in teaching it to talk and you can just imagine the kind of words it learned to mimic!!!!
Thanks for those Mikejee, the coin shop being 5A would indicate that it was up above number 5 as my memory tells me, I expect those rickety steps had long gone when you took those photo's.
