This was reported in the Birmingham Daily Post on 1/12/1962. The map referred to was displayed on the wall of the showroom of Bell Bank Barn Ltd in Oldbury. It’s claimed to have been found in a leather case under the floorboards of a property in Grant Street, Birmingham. Is this a well known map? Is there a copy anywhere ? Viv.

That looks like it Mike. Thanks. Maybe the engraving was made in 1827 but not printed until later. It makes me wonder if the 1827 copy found under the floorboards was an early version perhaps ? Viv.

Piggot Smiths map is am important research to show the detail of transport and industry in Birmingham, using the date of 1824-1825 as the survey being made.
