Looking for a home and a manufactory in Moseley/Wake Green in the 1840’s and 1850’s

Hello folks

I'm Looking for the site of a home and a manufactory in Moseley/Wake Green in the 1840’s and 1850’s

John Edelsten had a manufactory at the ‘Yardley Works, Wake Green, Moseley’, up to his death in 1860 where he continued to develop pin making machinery. (It is thought this machinery may have been for D.F. Tayler and John Malin Edelsten’s factory, in Warrington)

Edelsten,Williams & Edelsten (John Edelsten, John Alfred Williams, and Peter Edelsten ) Pin & Fish Hook manufacturers had their business on George St. Parade Hockley/ Lady Wood. Peter Edelsten the son' was also a wire drawer with a business alongside supplying the raw material.

I can locate the Edelstens (John and his son Peter) and their homes around Sir Harry’s Road in Edgbaston through the census returns and directories (In the 1840's Peter lived at Marlborough House, on the Bristol Road and John at The Shrubbery,Sir Harry's Road. Later Peter moved to The Woodlands, Moseley.

What I am looking for is the location of the Yardley Works and a residence ‘The Woodlands Moseley’ thought to be on Wake Green Lane.

Can't find anything on the maps I can access so any help would be appreciated

Many thanks

Hello folks

Later Peter moved to The Woodlands, Moseley.

You state 'later', what year? It might be possible to follow the "enumerator's walk" to identify the location.

If you can provide Census references, it makes it so much easier.

Can’t help with the Yardley works, it does not seem to show up on any map or directory I have, but the Woodlands off Wake Green road can be seen on the c 1903 map below
Today I would say that the lower part of Mackenzie road follows the route of the original drive into The Woodlands

Thanks Mikejee

Couldn't be clearer than that. Its a great help. I'll keep looking for the works.

Thanks for the census tip Ken R. I tried that, but unless its a built up area its less than specific

Thanks again

As a temp in the 1960's I worked for three months for the CEGB in Wake Green Road. It was in a large old house in huge grounds - I am wondering if this house became the CEGB?
