This Imperial War Museum site is soon to launch.

It will be an excellent resource for genealogists, researchers etc. I've been working on the site to help test it out and, in the process, decided use our Erdington postmen to link to relevant documents (Census, Birth, Marriage etc etc) on there. The BHF discussion about them is on these two threads:

The starting point on the IWM 'Lives ..' site is the person's military index card, then other documents can be searched and linked to the person so a fuller picture is built up. Personal documents can be added too and there are plans to link with the Commonwealth War Graves records quite soon. So it's moving towards a more 'human' record of all those who gave so much during WW1.
I've created an I W M 'Lives ...' community comprising of our Erdington Postmen. Six of our postmen are now up on there but I've not yet been unable to find Albert Sharp's details to add to the community. I'm sure I'll locate him in time. There's plenty more to be done as well in more filling out of their details but like all these things it's only something I can do if time permits. I'm sure it will be a fascinating collection in time. Viv.
