Joy's attempt at Poetry

I saw a little snowdrop,
I stared at it awhile.
then I plucked if from the soil,
at once I heard a sound.

The sound came from that snowdrop,
behold a tear it shed.
The tear was for the beauty
I knew I had destroyed.
The petals they closed tightly,
right before my eyes.

I sensed the flower was crying
take in my beauty now.
You've sapped my strength,
you've broken my stem,
My life is over now.

Don't pick the flowers.
From the earth appears a flower bud
Struggling to push its way through the mud
Reaching for the glowing sun
Gathering strength to grow up tall
From a seed to a flower is a long haul
To bend and sway in a summer breeze
Enjoying the warmth of the sun before the freeze
I am here for only a short time
From spring through summer to autumn time
So do not pluck me from my flowerbed
If you do not heed my word I soon will be dead
Leave me here to grow and smell
Were I have grown in a flowery dell

Where does a butterfly go?

Where does a butterfly go?

Flowers Bloom and butterflies emerge
From cocoons, both are beautiful
Bright and colourful for all to see
We share the world of sunshine
hail and snow, but have you ever
Wondered , where does a butterfly go?

Drooping flowers sadly drenched
loose there beauty as they droop
from lifeless stems full of rain
Falling leaves change their colour,
giving off hue’s of orange red and gold
But tell me where does a butterfly go?

We trundle through autumn leaves,
across sodden fields,
Observe the ‘crack’ as we shuffle
through twigs and branches
beneath our feet.
The beauty of the withered
Flower is plain to see, so tell me,
Did you ever see a butterfly when
it rains? This puzzles me!

I LOOK FOR YOU MOM

I looked for you everywhere –Mom
for years I've looked - through steamed
up windows, streets dark with fog.
Through pouring rain and tear filled eyes -
I've only ever caught glimpses that fade and die,
before my touch has reached you.

The last time I saw you, it was cloudy
but the sun was shining -
I was looking through darkness calling you
to return but you wouldn't.

Now I have to think of you through turning
wheels of my mind - moments of happiness
that vanish into nothingness, but
filled with hope, I know you are the
truth like the spring buds on the
trees that rustle in the wind - they
wave hello, and then goodbye.

I still look for you everywhere Mom
through time and space, and find
nothing; only tear-stained pillows
when I awake, instead of your arms
embrace- but I still love you!

GRATEFUL

I am grateful to anyone,

who has treated me harshly and coarsely
they have taught me to be gentle and sensitive

To those who have underestimated me to be of insignificance
you have taught me to stand up for myself

And those people who  saw nothing of value within me
you have forced me to search the treasures within myself

Those of you who treated me illicitly
you have taught me to be sincere

The people who never displayed affection for me
you have shown me the importance of love

To the few that were jealous, fought and hurt me
you have taught me to be self-critical and cautious

The mean who have never given me any attention
you have taught me to approach anyone without prejudice

To those of you who have regretfully damaged my dignity
you  have taught me to grant forgiveness

To the many who have never wanted to notice my helplessness
you have taught me to seek help and support

And those who  have abandoned and deserted me in my hour of need
you have taught me the meaning of true friendship

And to you who have  restrained and repressed me
you  have taught me to defend myself

And those of you who have caused meso much  pain and sorrow
you have helped me recognise the polarity of suffering

To those who have  taken part in all of these things
you have given my life both  sense and meaning

I am grateful to all of you, because believe it or not,
you are the reason, the how and the why I've  learnt
What is important  to me today. It has enabled
me to give it all away.
