Hello. My name is Matthew Jelf, 33 living in Brighton, UK. My father Chris Jelf, his father Derek Jelf, his father Arthur Sydney, his father Samuel Jelf of Belper (1863-1944), his father Samuel Jelf (1835-1917) and his father Samuel Jelf (1811-1889) - the latter two of the Wichenford area, listed as farmers/greengrocers/agricultural landowners etc. Anyone any link to my family via the Wichenford connections of my family. This run of Samuel Jelfs are my great great grandfather, my 3rd great grandfather and my 4th great grandfather on my fathers side.
Best wishes, Matt Jelf

I have a detailed family tree on Ancestry withphotos etc that extend back as far as my great great grandfather Samuel Jelf of Belper, Derbyshire. Family mostly moved down to the Bristol area from then on.

Welcome.

If you search for the name Jelf there have been previous mentions of the name, particularly in the Badsey/Bretforton areas of Worcs.

Much was posted by Alan [Astonian] who has since passed on.

Thanks. Sorry to hear of Alan’s passing. It sounds like he’d have been my man RE the Jelf’s in the area. I will see his historic posts.

Best wishes,

Matt

Another useful source may be the Badsey Historical Website,

Although the East Worcestershire Jelfs (with an 's') may be a different to your Jelf line but perhaps inter-connected at some point.
