I put on a previous posting that my father in law who died in 2006 age 96 told my husband that he was amongst thousands of people who lined the streets to celebrate a Jack Hood win about 1925..

Jack Hood.

I also had put this on a previous posting that my mother used to go to school with the sister of Jack Hood. I cannot remember her name and somehow I seem to think that they lived in Lupin Street.
I guess it calls for a look in the poll books.

I found this about Jack Hood on the web.

Quote>>>>> Charlie Rowbotham worked at John Yates and Co. Edgetool Works at
the corner of Rocky Lane and Cheston Road in Birmingham for a time and,
according to my research, Jack Hood and Tom Hood (Jack's brother? - also a
boxer?) also worked there
