Much more ornate than I'd imagined. Obviously Osler took the limelight at the Exhibition but reports suggest the Rice Harris exhibits were also very impressive. Viv.
Re. Post #16. It wasn't until 1863 or soon after that the glassworks cones, ovens and associated buildings were removed. It seems surprising that there are no images of the works or marks on maps. Surely the cones would have been a striking feature of the area.
Thanks. I imagined the cones would show on the map - as cicles. There's supposed to be an illustration of Islington Glasshouse, but I've never been able to find it. I think the glasshouse was built in 1815.
