Humorous And Interesting Newspaper Stories about Birmingham

Back when you had Full time staff and Parks were locked at night and yoi could not ride your bike after a csrtain time in the morning. Plus does anyone remember the Parks Police.

Just read about your father i can see why you are very proud of him . He took his job very seriously and was dedicated to the job . As people were then and if they told you to move on you did . I remember the dark blue mini vans which later moved up to Bedford HA vans in which the Alsations if i am correct travelled in the back. Up until a few years ago although the Parks Police were no longer with Birningham City Council they still had staff locking the Cemeteries at night and were based Queensbridge Road Mosely. Like everything that works well its either contracted out or sold off buy people who just look at the balance sheet at the end of the financial year.

A man from East Sussex has completed his charity fund-raising journey from John O'Groats to Land's End in a Peel P50 motorcar.
Alex Orchin drove almost 1500 miles in less than three weeks in the three-wheeled vehicle.
The original models were manufactured in the Isle of Man.
His trip's managed to make £10,000 for Children in Need but the 31-year old says there was the odd scare along the way::grinning:1639210228212.png:grinning:

Remember to take your age id when yo buy some mince pies this year.

Student Merryn Walker was asked for her proof of age at the Donnington ASDAsupermarket branch in Telford when trying the mince pies.
The 21-year-old did not have any formal ID at hand, and as the luxury all-butter mince pies contained a small amount of port and brandy, she was turned away.
Ms Walker described the move as 'crazy'.
But the store defended itself, saying products containing alcohol are not offered to customers under 18, for "obvious reasons".:(
