Recently completed a book about the history of Birmingham Disability Resource Centre at Bierton Road in Yardley. The book has developed from an 18 month oral history project funded by Heritage Lottery Fund. As well as studying local history and the people who set up the BDRC, the book starts by creating a wider historical context about the lives of disabled people from the early 20th century and shows how a sense of radicalism developed which culminated in the formation of a 'disabled people's movement' in Britain and the passing of the Disability Discrimination Act in 1995. This is a blog style website containing the text from the book which will also be available in a number of accessible formats from 9th April.
