Highfield House

Charlie

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
From the Birmingham Evening Mail. Permission granted to demolish Highfield House and replace with new homes.
Not sure that the link will work, so Google Birmingham Mail the death of Highfield House
plus
Birmingham Mail the story of Highfield House.

A victorian house of some standing situated in Hall Green.
Another one bites the dust.

Thank you for that Charlie, so sad, world full of greed, Council will always have their way....Cat:)

Yeah it is quite shocking.

Blame the developers.

Once a historic building is demolished, it is lost forever. What happened to the old bricks?

It's sad to loose a landmark but, (going out on a limb here) I don't think that the architects have done such a bad job of blending in here....using modern materials. I don't know if the houses on either side are part of it or already there. Either way it could have been much worse. Don't all throw things at once.

They are imitating the roof's of the nearby older houses. These new ones are three storeys high, while the old ones (1930s era houses) are two storeys high.

Looks like they have one chimney each. Not sure if they would be in use though.
