Heaton House Camden Street Hockley

Thanks Viv - I haven't had time to do a thorough read.
Still not sure why it was called Heaton House.

No I haven’t found any references either Janice.

These photos are extracted from the planning documents. Source: Richard Morris’s report: An architectural and archaeological assessment of Heaton House, 2006.

I was works manager of Cruickshanks in the 1960’s until 1970. My office was the one with the. Arched widow reveal. The factory was still operating up to and including 1969 not 1964 as posted on this thread.

i wonder what the building looks like now...must have a look next time i am down that way

Hard to get an idea of the house from Camden Street. Here are a few images, the last one being an artist's impression. But it shows how the old house sits within a new development. Nicely done, I think. If that's how we make sure certain buldings lije aHeaton House are preserved, I'm fine with this example.

Some before renovation images - in addition to thise in post #22. You can see how easy it would have been to bulldoze the lot, but thankfully the more challenging route of full renovation was chosen.

I think it's safe to say that has been

Very tastefully executed, when I looked on streetview I though it had been demolished.

Yes, confusing John as the buildings on Camden Street are also called Heaton House, and seem to have been belly built around the old Heaton House. The first photo in post #20 shows all the buildings around Heaton House demolished and only the old Heaton House left standing. agree a nice development.
