Re: Help needed on the healy family

About what date are you looking at & have you any idea where in Birmingham they may have lived?
I have Heeleys in my tree, but spelled "ee" not "ea". It´s always worth looking at alernative spellings.

Re: Help needed on the healy family

Hi,i do know that in 1945 Mary A Healy lived with Margaret Steward and Alexander Steward at 4 Milverton terrace, johnstone street.in 1947 there is a Marianna,John J and Margaret Healy. In 1955 at 89 Edwards rd Erdington there is Marianna,Mary A,and John J Healy living with leonard Norris and Esther Norris(nee Healy)in 1960 there is just Marianna,Mary A and John J Healy.Im trying to find out who Marianna is i have never heard of her, there is also a Kathleen Healy and Mary Josephine Healy(my nan) that is all i have to go on im afraid.

Re: Help needed on the healy family

Hi Suzanne, thankyou so much for that info its been driving me mad,she obviously never married then?any other info would be great.

Re: Help needed on the healy family

Hi STEWARD

I honestly can't say if she was married or single - you would need the death certificate for that information. Will let you know if I find anything else.

Re: Help needed on the healy family

could someone help me find the mothers maiden name for the Healy children please as i dont know mother or fathers name as they were from ireland and my dad cant remember much.

Ireland is not so easy to search. Do you know which part of Ireland they are from and roughly when they were born?

iv been told they were from dublin,i only know the year my nan was born which is 1926 and she past away 29th September 1992 aged 79yrs Mary Josephine Healy, she married Alexander George Steward june 1943 in Birmingham.Thankyou for your help.

Hi - are you sure your Nan was born in 1926? If she died in 1992 aged 79 then that would have her born 1913 which would fit with the death below.

I have Irish ancestors and have found this site very useful https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/ you are able to search the 1901 and 1911 census for free, but you will need the surname. I have also copied and pasted some BMD records below which might help you tie up some loose ends.

The census is good, you can see signatures, house details etc but, unless you know more than a surname it is difficult to narrow down the number of returns and as all of the above were born after the 1911 census their info can not be used. I hope the OP finds out a bit more info and we can be of more help :05.18-flustered:

You can apply for a birth certificate on https://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm

Hi there,

I’m Lydia, I just came across this thread (from years ago). Kathleen Mowlah-Baksh (formerly Healy) was my grandmother. I’m wanting to find out more about her father, who I believe was from East London before he moved to Dublin. My Dad (John Baksh) said that he was of Jewish origin and that the surname was originally ’Eligh’ but it changed to Healy at some point (I imagine around WW2). Is this correct?

Also, if he was Jewish, I’d like to know where his family originated from. I image somewhere in Eastern Europe…

I’d be really grateful if you could share any information.

Warm wishes
Lydia

Hello, it's advised not to put your email on the forum where it can be 'harvested'. You can send a private message (start conversation) by hovering over the member's name, however it appears Steward hasn't been on the forum since 2013.

Following on from the info given, all the children of George mentioned - Mary, Esther and Kathleen - were registered as Healy and George when he married your great grandmother was listed as Healy also, so if there was a change of name it seems it would have been before that.

On their marriage registration (1912) it lists his father's name as George and gives an address in Dublin but he doesn't seem to be there in 1911. Frustratingly, most Irish marriage records only list the couple's ages as full which is zero help.
