Hawthorns Halt Station

The Hawthorns Halt was for football traffic. The whole line from Snow Hill to Wolverhampton Low Level closed in 1972, with the exception of certain sections used for freight traffic. The line from Smethwick West to Handsworth was left in place for the cement and scrap traffic, for example.

The track through Hawthorns Halt was eventually removed. Hawthorns Halt was also the site of the sidings that served Sandwell Park Colliery and the loading shoots of the tramway from Jubilee Colliery.
