George and Nellie Lowe, hardware shop /wheeler st/surrounding roads

Dianne

master brummie
Does anyone have any memories of a hardware shop situated in Wheeler street/surrounding area - it was owned by a George and Nellie Lowe, they later divorced but George went on to own a warehouse called Lowe's fancy goods (or similar) somewhere in Aston/newtown. George's warehouse was still about in the mid 1980's , I am the niece of George and I have an interest in any staff that worked there

Regards

Dianne;)

Hardware Shop/Wheeler Street

We have a member of the Forum - Rob Lowe, the son of the family you mention. He wrote a very interesting article with photos of his family and their shops. Type Lowe in the search engine above, if it is not there, I guess it is on the main site under "Streets of Birmingham - Wheeler Street".

Lowe family

Hi Sylvia and thank you so much for your reply to my post, - I cannot find any of Robs posts except a poem he posted in 2003, I have tried typing in Lowe, and also streets of birmingham - obviously I am doing something wrong -after all I am blonde! but I would love to be able to speak to Robert.

Anyone else reading this post please assist this dizzy blonde !!

Regards

Dianne:)

Thank you Colin for that link, I have just read it and it has made me cry !!

It refers to my uncle Joe as well who I love to bits and is as eccentric now as he was then - he used to throw away £5 and £1 notes if they were crumpled and dirty !- straight up - me and my cousins used to follow him everywhere
we were the richest kids in Tower Street.:D:D:p

It appears that Robert hasn't posted on this forum for a while now , anyone correct me if I am wrong, I have sent him a private message but if anyone is in contact with him please ask him to look me up on this forum - I would love to speak with him.

Dianne:)
