Handsworth, Friary Road and Rooney

A recent issue of "The Black Country Bugle" contains a report on the discovery of a detailed, day-to-day 1943/44 diary written by a 21-year-old named Tony Rooney who appears to have lived in the Friary Road area of Handsworth. There’s quite a lot of comment on this diary in the Bugle’s website at the moment , but I am not sure how long it will remain there.

If only the complete document could be published….
