HANDSWORTH CHAPEL

SuBee

master brummie
Paul, your piece on Handsworth Chapel, is so interesting ..........Thank You.
If anyone lives/works local to the area, it is lovely to spend a dinner hour there with your sarnies, its not only aesthetically pleasing, some of the grave inscriptions are quite moving.
It was interesting to read how the funds became available for the Chapel and Cemetary.
On a lighter note, the piece bought back a humourous story told to me. As Paul points out.......there are many pathways around the Cemetary. A friend was tendering her fathers grave one day, close to the chapel, when a vicar (who will remain anonomous), was clearly late for a funeral service he was taking.
The funeral procession was slowly making its way towards the chapel, in a reverant manner.......whilst the vicar could be seen on the horizon, in his old banger, driving like Michael Schumaker..........taking the Brands Hatch approach, trying to arrive at the chapel first. :D
