  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

Wondered if anyone out there remembers this. It's the Christmas panto at Brownmead Primary School in Shard End. It was 1961. Puss in Boots. I (Gillian Mann) was "Puss", Susan Burke, Linda Daniels were the ladies in waiting, Richard Downes was the king, Julie Southwell was the princess and who (Melvin?) was the prince. I hope this is going in the right section.

Mr Keeping. He must have had the last year but one as most of the children are from his class and Veronica was in the year above. She was asked to step in when Mary Queen of Scots went on holiday.

Mr Keeping was a Teacher at Burlington Street infants and junior school until summer 1963, I just missed out on having him as my form teacher, thank goodness, he used to spit when he was talking .

I would have left in 1959 but probably some of these teachers would have been there in my days ,carnt say I remember those faces but probably would by name ,thanks for sharing
 
Good question, my understanding of rent pooling is where several people own several properties they rent out and divide the revenue, so I cannot see how this would happen in social housing.
 
I have heard where tenants have refused to pay rent for some reason such as lack of repairs , but deposited it in a secure place so that it can be stated that the money is there once repairs or whatever are carried out. Maybe thios is what is meant
 
I wondered if it was a system where the rents collected all went into a pool and covered the rents of the 'can't pay won't pay lot' . so in effect they were higher for those who did pay.

I think any landlord would have allowed for that as part of their rent calculations. The only other term I know of is a so-called sink fund where a proportion of rental income is set aside for future maintenance or repair.
 
There appears to be many discussions in Councils up and down the country concerning rent pooling. This one from Lichfield Rural Council.

Mr. Wakeman did not see why the Council should be expected to provide houses at uneconomic rent.
