  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

A couple of photos of the Expressway under construction. There's a pub in the background so I expect someone will know exactly where it was taken. Believed to be around 1967.

I think it would be a little bit later than 1967.....I would say 1969/70ish......The only reason I can tell you is that in 1968 I left school and during that summer I played quite a bit of cricket on that side of Aston Park, and no road building was in progress at that time , BUT I do know that in 1969 work had started on the Gravelly Hill area.....
 
Lady P, the pub was the Queens Head in Queens Road (one of my Dad's local's),below that WAS Atkinson's brewery and the house I was born, 1/89 in 1930, so sad to see it all go although we had moved by then. Eric
