Exchange Restaurant Stephenson Place

This photo is connected to the Rose Vernon thread as the man third from the left is thought to be her husband. However, I'm not sure if it is in Birmingham so this seemed a better thread for posting. It's an M & B pub. Any help or information on this picture would be very welcome please.

Thanks,Exchange Bar.jpg

You probably already know this but on the baptism record for Phyllis Jones his occupation is given as barman.

Thank you all. We were hoping it was Stephenson Place but he also worked in bars in other towns but this has confirmed the location.

Definitely Stephenson Place. Over many, many years the restaurant hosted regular events for sporting organisations as well as local trade organisations. Although much later, two clippings below from the British Newspaper Archives. Viv.

This lengthy but informative article gives a full account of the premises. It comprised a series of apartments, including a banqueting Hall. Sounds pretty swanky! Source: British Newspaper Archives. Viv.

I think The Exchange was a Berni Inn in the 1970s situated on the ramp in Stephenson Place which led up to New street station.
Yes it was I went there a few times .It was the place where I first tasted duck .When they served it to me I said I would never eat all that cus it was a half a duck and it covered my whole plate . Little did I know by the time you got down to the eating part there was not much meat on it !!!! Lucky i had chips and salad with it as well.

When I posted the earlier info I did not realise that I had a connection to the Exchange.
1921 census reveals that my great aunt was a cook there. I never knew her as she died in 1937 aged 56.

Was this an earlier gilded cage? I remember the gilded cage in Stephenson St, not Stephenson Place, next to the bus stops
