can anyone help when i typed in my gran's name rose ellen sketchley up came this site with also the names of the rest of some of my family ernest was my grandad i never knew him but the site was captioned ' new summer st and 1939' how do i find out more i'd love to read about them thanks everyone-- bgs

Rose Ellen Sheriff B1884 Small Heath Bham married Ernest Sketchley B1882 Hockley Bham in 1903 Bham ref AMJ 6d 107
In 1911 they lived at 40 Benson Road.
From the 1918 Absent Voter's list
1918 & 1919 - 110 New Summer Street - Ernest Sketchley reg no. 189883 196th Labour Corps
1918 - 110 New Summer Street - Walter Sheriff reg no. 106548 Cpl, 380 (HS) Labour Co 13370, 1 Garr Btn, 16th R. War
All the following at 110 new Summer Street
1920 - 1927 Ernest & Rose Sketchley
1930 - Rose Ellen, Rose & May Sketchley
1935 - Ernest, Rose Ellen (the elder), Harry & May Sketchley
Then all at 50 Bracebridge Street
1939 - Rose Ellen (the elder), May & Rose Ellen (the younger) Sketchley
1945 - Rose & May Sketchley & Rose & Ewart F Nunney
1950 - Rose Sketchley & Rose & Ewart F Nunney

Ernest Sketchley died 1938 Bham aged 60 (there is a birth year of 1878? which does not agree with his age in 1911) ref AMJ 6d 97 - there is a burial record for an Ernest Sketchley in 1938 in Handsworth Cemetery register number 22327 - Also there is a birth for an Ernest SKETCULEY but the actual image is Sketchley Born OND 1881 Aston ref 6d 381.
Rose Ellen Sketchley died 1970 Bham aged 86 ref JFM 92 1176 birth date 15 May 1883 and a burial record for Handsworth Cemetery for a Rose Ellen Sketchley 1970 register number 49653 - number in grave 1.

grateful thanks never knew my grandad so this is brill info, how did you find thisout what do i do to find out more after may came sid after him came my dad stanley all are now dead

I use sites such as Ancestry and FMP and of course the electoral rolls www.midlandshistoricaldata.org which are all pay to view sites. Hopefully now you have some starting blocks, so to speak, you can pursue your family history. Good luck:)
