I am not sure if this is the right place to put this link. It is the diary of Brian David Williams from 1934 - 1953. It talks about growing up in Acocks Green and his schooldays at Edgbaston High School. His account of the Birmingham bombings in wwII from a schoolboys point of view is very interesting.

TUESDAY 6th JUNE 1944
D-Day
This morning Mammy was kneeling on the floor, polishing the lino and listening to the wireless. There was an announcement about the invasion and Mammy stopped to pray.
