Sadly Des has passed away. Des was brilliant in every aspect. He could be funny in a naughty way without upsetting anyone, & despite what Morecambe & Wise said he wasn`t a bad singer. A lovely guy.
I understand he started out as a Red Coat at Butlins. My mom loved him. He came and opened a shop on Erdington High Street in the late 60’s. Was it Taylors or Owen and Owen? Mom got his auto graph.
When Buddy Holly toured England in`58, at the end of the tour he gave Des one of his guitars. I don`t know if Des hung onto to it but it would be worth a small fortune today.
