hi there folks...
i was wondering if anyone could tell me why some of the address' i have found for my g grandfather, states 71, brearley st, off court 11 3 house. and another address was 1 house court back of 6 farm street,, does this mean they lived in the shed or something.. or maybe they shared the house.. not sure.. thanks to anyone that replies... clare

The addresses refer to what were known as back to back houses, there was an entry between the houses, that led to a courtyard, which was almost like another street. the back houses were part of the houses which fronted the main road. Jackie
