  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

Book: Cornish's Strangers Guide To Birmingham

Really interesting so far. I like how the author begins by dismissing other's fanciful origins for the name of Birmingham. and his contempt for Christ Church is plain. Also love the term houses of bad character.

Thanks for posting Mike. Another gem. A tip if you're downloading the book please note (on iPad) you need to scroll down to page 8 to reach the Index page. It took me a while to realise it had actually loaded (and loaded very quickly) as it gave a blank page for the first 7 pages. Viv.

A lot of the Internet archive books are like that. I think they must be scanned by some machine that just copies every page , including those that are blank
