Compose A Poem........ from a nominated word

SuBee

master brummie
Over to you Di

Start the ball rolling...............then maybe like the quiz...........whoever writes the poem, could nominate the next word?

For me this is a very topical word - a little off the cuff silly poem. I'm sure knees will conjure up lots of poetry in our talented writers :)

KNEES

When I was young my knees were lovely
There wasn't even a hint of chubbly (see I can do it too JohnY)
Now they're just sore and knobbly
and I look back and sigh
where did I go wrong and why?

I dream each night I'm young and svelte
but next morning struggle to buckle my belt
A new diet? I've done them all
I'm not too fat I'm just not tall
Or so I protest to one and all.

Love it!..........Nice choice K8

I may try a knees one...my husband is suffering from the amount of football he played in the past and the ops on them as a result...........plus my mom had a new knee two years ago and is imminently waiting another.................watch this space..............

Knees please Louise..

They never reached my knees,
Those shorts I wore..
They sort of drooped..
And hugged the floor..
Hitched so high..
They chaffed my neck..
As I ran to school..
'cross the old 'bomb peck'
Empty pockets around my knees..
Fluttered in the late Spring breeze..
My Wellies peeped out..
All forlorn..
Scuffed black rubber..
Poverty born..
Ragged jersey, frayed grey shirt..
Boiled clean of all the grime and dirt..
Balaclava on my head..
As off to School I quickly sped..
Dodge the raindrops coming home..
How quickly all those days have flown..

Knees are so useful without a doubt
Without them we could not get about
Moms knee was comfort when we all worn out
Dads knee was a tough place when we needed a clout

One knee can be proud honour bent
Or humble when prayers are sent
Both knees with deep feeling intent
Quiet pivots of strength,yet content.

:!:

New knees please

Knees of titanium bold and strong
NHS issue, when yours have gone wrong
You may have a long wait, but dont dwell in sorrow,
Got eight thousand quid?.....you can have yours tomorrow
Thirty plus clips to remove after 'the op'
Dont bend it too far........your wound may just 'pop'
The largest of hinge joints, they carry your weight
For all of your life, they can alter your gait.
Men often use them to traditionally propose
Without them, young babies couldnt crawl, I suppose.
Yes they're funny to look at all knobbly and boney
But omit them anatomically, and your legs would be lonely!

Good stuff - I'm trying not to go to sleep too early before I have to go to the hopital tomorrow by 7 a.m. Keeping me smiling :)

What a talented bunch you all are. :D

I better have a bash, I'll appologise in advance.

When I was three I hurt my knee
Mom was there to cuddle me
She gave me a handkerchief to wipe my tears
The scar is still there after all those years.

I'm not gonna write a poem about knees because you lot have already done the business, I love them all but my vote has to go to Kandor's.
Well done mate, I saw myself in there somewhere

Rain drops splash as they fall
heeding gravity,s call
Squeezed from the cloud
sometimes quite loud
Causing some strife
yet giver of life
Mostly welcoming"plop"
beautiful rain drop.

Dont cry for me..................

The sky is grey with mournful eyes
The sun has gone in and said its goodbyes
The people find sanctuary in doorways of shops
and all for the fear of a shower of raindrops.

Will people shrink, if their skins become wet?
Cant they just see that God is upset?
So when skies cloud over and darkness appears
Do not fear raindrops, they are only Gods tears

I have to say...

Two fabulous last lines..
I'll post my pathetic effort tomorrow...
Just about to eat my Chinese meal..'Ahh yu wanna buy my daughter?'

Nature is bountiful, it’s often been said, the feel of rain on my face is the proof
But I’d rather not feel it when I’m lying in bed, I must fix that hole in the roof

Come on! You didn’t really expect something deep and meaningful from me did you?

CARING FRIENDS

My tears fell like raindrops
At the kindness of a friend
A friend I’ve never met

He reached out his hand
Across the cyber waves
This friend I’ve never met

He’s facing his own fears
But still cared about my tears
A friend I’ve never met

He will know as he reads this verse
What his caring means to me
My friend I’ve never met.

Raindrops Fall

:D
Raindrops fall and there’s mud on his face
But he has the ball has he got the pace?
They’re bounding down on him like a pack of wolves
He wants this try has he got the skills?
He’s reached the line puts ball in place
Now there’s mud all over not just on his face
Is he 16 stone giant, over six feet tall?
No just a little six year old with a rugby ball
Then from the side line he hears a call “Well done Carl”
And the raindrops fall.

Chris :)

Tears fall like raindrops
As a city mourns
Its beautiful children lie dead
Flowers are left on a sun kissed street
By those who want to know Why.

Chris, I really do like your poem - just re-read it. It must go into your album as one of your best :)

:D Thanx Kate :!: Angela read it to Carl and he asked me if he could take a copy to school to show his teacher and the class what he has been doing over the school holidays.
I thought what praise from a six year old 8)

Chris :)

As a babby I crawled upon my knees.
When I was a nipper I to sat on mom’s knees,
When I was a school kid she told me to wash my knees.
My future wife had me on bended knees.
Now I cut her toe nails on my knees.
I can still bend zee knees
It’s getting off them
I have trouble
with.

Re: I have to say...

Raindrops were falling from the sky ,
It was my fathers funeral ,
I was only a boy ,
I think i was trying not to cry,
But when your so small,
It isn`t easy,
But i tried to stand tall,
Even though i felt queasy.

raindrops fall against my car
good job i dont have to travel far
by the time ive done a few mile
the sun breaks through it brings on a smile

when i stop i dont look down
there's a big puddle i nearly drown
i ask a passerby is this gloucester
i said my name is dr foster
