Hi...does anyone remember the cinema at the top of Timberley Lane, Shard End, it was there before Tesco took the site over. All I can remember is watching the cinema burn to the ground when I was a child. :)

Hi Skygirl

In the book I have Birmingham Cinemas by Victor J Price he makes no mention of the Castle burning down he just says that the cinema closed on the 26th of May 1963 and it was later demolished.

Hmm Myths Myths.... The Castle did not burn Down....... Sold to Tesco intact. Its last Manager was Bill Wakefield who came to work for us at the Capitol Cinema Alum Rock. My Old boss BT DAVIS Provided Management & Booking Services to Harry Dare who owned it along with the Atlas Cinema... I hope this clears up any misunderstandings of History..

Hi All

The Castle was knocked down for development and Tesco's then moved in. I used to go to the Saturday matinees as a youngster and my mom took me to see the Young Ones with Cliff Richards LoL.
