Cherry Orchard School

A December 1966 Birmingham Post photo of the retirement of Headmistresses Miss Lyster. The staff bought her a radiogramme for her retirement - how generous. Viv.

I remember her as a very energetic headmistress up to my leaving the school in 1959. Her first name was Maisie. I searched for her on the web and came across a self-published book by Maisie Lyster-Powell, "Keep Your Sunny Side Up". Was this her?

I remember her too. She was energetic! The school motto was 'Aim High'. I also left the school in 1959. Maybe we know each other?

Hello John. Gosh I do remember you! What a crazy world we live in today to be able to hook up. Re Cherry Orchard, I believe Lee Childs the author of the Jack Reacher books ( real name James Grant) was two years behind us. He then went to King Edwards Grammar school. I just hope my new thriller book, the Hybrid Enemy (lots of Birmingham history in it) is a fraction of his success! Let me know what you are up to.
