I know it's a long shot, but does anyone on here have any photos of the now closed or demolished pubs on the wood, like The Roundhouse, The Happy Trooper, The Yeoman, The Hiker, The Friendly Inn, The Trusty Servant, The Southern Cross or any I have missed off ?:violin:I drank in all of these at some stage to various degrees, but haven't got any photos except a few recent of the Trusty(boarded up) and Friendly(now a old peoples home). Cheers Carlb36

i wouldn't mind seeing a picture of The Yeoman myself, had many a good night in there. No one thinks to take a photo at the time do they.

Yes she does run the greenwood, but I haven't seen any posts by her for a while perhaps she is on holiday. Alf she won't spot the Yeoman it was knocked down years ago and replaced by houses, I past there this morning taking my grandson to the doctors, but I cannot understand why there are no photos to be found. Perhaps there might be come in the library.

I cant say i ever knew a White Horse in Chelmsley astonian, are you thinking about The White HART on Gresel Lane. Max

The only ones I can think of that are actually left on Chelmsley Wood are The Centurion, The Prince Hal, The Greenwood and The Bluebell (the old aquarius)

Terry

The Centurian was my Local when i lived on Forth drive back in the early 70s. The best kept secret on the Wood was the Post Office club !!! we used to get in there for late night boozing when the pubs had turned out. Max

There is still the Centurian near where I live, not that I go there, don't like it, prefer the walk along the brook to thr Bell in Bell Lane on the odd occassion I visit a pub . Eric

hi eric..i well remember the bell inn..my aunt and uncle lived in bell lane and as a youngster was very often taken into the gardens...if memory serves me a nice old pub....

lyn

This is a memory jerking photo of me and 2 mates ( im holding the baby ) taken at the side of The Prince Hal. It was the occasion of the christening of Kenny's daughter ( Kenny is on the right of the pic )
You can see that Chelmsley had not been finished being built. Max

I forgot about the Kingfisher, thats still there. Never knew about the PO club. Mind you, not working for them I dont suppose I would have got in anyway.

Great photo next to eh Prince hal, u can still recognise it.. if anyone has any photos of anywhere on chelmsleyw, and i mean old ones, then get them on here.. anywhere of anything but not new ones :) thanx

can't believe there are no photo's of the yeomen, the hiker, the roundhouse, the trooper, the friendly, the southern cross, the woodsman, the kingshurst, anywhere on the net surely there would have been photos taken of them for the record?

I have searched and searched for a photo of the Yeoman and cannot find one, I wish I had taken a photo of it when me and my husband used there.

I think you will find a photo of the Yeoman on Bill Dargues site Chelmsley Wood Past and Present.
