Hi!
My great grandfather was a chandelier dipper. In some records he is also listed as a brass cock founder. What did a chandelier dipper do?

Hi Dotty and welcome to the forum. This was an advert from 1865 so I guess it was to do with plating the metal chandeliers

my dad worked in a brass foundry. there was a dipping shed in there the items were sent to the dipping shed.(not heard that name for a long time} they were dipped in a bath of acid to remove all the grime etc.ready for the next stage,polishing/chroming.....workers doing a precific job seemed to lost there surname it was replaced by there profession. ie fred the dipper, bill the moulder,:grinning:
