Digbeth, particularly near Rea Street and the Midland Red bus depot, was a great place to be if you wanted to see buses. Prior to 1948 it was possible to see the 84 route Stechford trams, until 1949 some of the Moseley Road trams and until 1951 the Coventry Road trolley buses. There was of course many diesel buses serving the southern areas if the city. Midland Red saw lots of movements of their buses to and fro.
In the photo it is clear that the cars are pre WW2, however, the date of the photo is between 1934 and 1939. Trolley Bus 64 which entere service in January 1934 is wearing its original lined livery and cream painted roof. Bus roofs were painted a khaki colour at the beginning of WW2.
