  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

For those who want to see what's in Carl's magazine this month.
 
I bought it yesterday Wendy but before I had a chance to look at it, Ray swiped it. I did notice though that there are photos of the old Lingard Street Fire Station in this issue, someone was after these photos sometime ago - I think it was Cromwell.
 
Thanks, Wendy for the pictures of Carl's magazine including the Contents page. Seeing the reference to Highfield House has prompted me to subscribe to the magazine and I received my first copy this morning.:D

I used to live not far from the house and passed it many times; often wondering who lived there and the history attached to it. Thanks to Carl's magazine and the article by John Worthy I now know. :grin2:

I am very sad to learn that this lovely, structurally sound house will be demolished to make way for new housing.:cry:

Anthea I thought the article on Highfield house was wonderfully written by John, as you say so sad this beautiful house has to be demolished.
