Hello,

I've recently become a member of the site and as a former Brummie I thought it would be interesting to join.
Does anyone remember the 'Brit' in Lord Street Nechells or any of the families who lived in the street? I'd like to know if the pub is still standing and if anyone has any photos.

Number 10 welcome mate i was lost for a bit i always knew it as the little Brit Procter St there was only a little bar and an even smaller snug i played football for a team in the 60s we used the snug every day of the week i loved that pub you could go down there with empty pockets someone would buy you a pint. Dek

I worked over the road at British Gas site and used to nip over some dinner times for a quick pint...........Always been a great little pub and was much used for British Gas functions.

Ian.

Dek Carr, You're right it is in Proctor St. my mistake, Lord St is where the gas offices were. This photo was taken outside the Brit I reckon in the late 40's /early 50's. Does anyone recognise anyone in it?

Does your mate keep any history of the pub? I remember it from the 40's and 50's, any changes made to it?

What an absolutly brilliant photo, love the guy in the flat cap 3rd from right, the two guys with the squeeze box and penny whistle, and the two behind the glass, brilliant.
One things for sure it was no youngsters outing.
Regards John.

First I must apologise to the very kind gentleman who took these photo's of The Brit for me... Because I can't remember his name
I do know there was a thread on the forum with them on but I can't find that either
Anyway these photo's were taken in 2008 just after my visit to the UK in 2007... I mentioned that my Dad played the piano in the Pub and on my visit although my Brother in law drove passed it to show me it was still there we never got out of the car to take any pic's.... there is also another older one around somewhere in my files and on the forum....
The Street off Proctor St is Bullock St .
I also think some of my Brother in law's family maybe in that Pic Number 10...!

lost photos replaced by what I believe are the same as originals
