Blind Workshops or workshops for the Blind

Does anyone know about workshops for the blind in Birmingham. According to Death and Marriage certificates my Great Uncle was an instructor in basket making. I am trying to fill in details on my family Tree I am talking post 1911. but pre 1970.

Interesting question that, my aunts neighbour was a policeman who went blind in the 60's. I remember he trained in basket making, I think I still have a dinner try he made.

PS Alan, welcome to the forum.

It would more than likely have been the training classes at the Birmingham Royal Institute for the Blind in Birmingham. They taught many courses to help blind people for a long time: Here is their web site with a History link also: https://www.brib.org.uk/default.htm
