Blackmoore's, Park Road

Anyone remember Blackmoore's. It was on Park Road. If you came up Victoria Road from Lichfield Road, turned right into Park Road, it was on the right. It was owned by two brothers (one called Jimmy I think) and made some sort of springs for the export market. My dad, Billy Dykes and my uncle Wally Cooper worked there in the 50's.

Hello Maggie: I am the Nipper's older sister. Our uncle Wally Cooper was married to our mother's oldest sister Ada (nee Street). Wally was a runner for the betting shops in the days before betting was legal and has legged it down Lover's Walk many times ahead of the coppers. I think, when he worked at Blackmore's, they lived in Hawksyard Rd, off Tyburn Rd and they had one son called Harold. Don't know any more about him but the Nipper might. I'll send him an email and get him to check out your post. Cheers!

Hi Maggie, I dont know much more about Wally Cooper than my sister but I'm certain he lived in Vicarage Road for a while. What might be your connection?

Probably not Maggie. Never mine. One intersting thing though,is that mt uncle walter called his only son Harold. Funny old woldAll the best
