Thanks for the photos and names to them Ken, you have just made history and I like others will be forever great full. If you don't believe me punch Birmingham school football history into any search engine and see for yourself. This history would probably been lost forever thanks fellow BHF.
I have looked at other big city forums for schools Football details, guess what nothing!!
Any more schools football history of Birmingham out there??

What a great photo Ken. The best yet!!
Fred was a blues ikon and was loved by the fans. His hat is differant to all the others, is it an England schoolboy cap?
Fred obviously did not win all those trophies on his own, whats the other boys names? Formans Road sc hool seemed to clean up that season except they could not win the Catholic Schools trophy, but if they entered they would have probably won that as well. I believe Fred past away last year and i was honoured to meet him many times over as the years as he was a tireless worker for charities in the area.

Hi bob
thanks for your remarks re photo.i will now answer your questions.the cap is special as he had played for bham county schools as well as south bham like the others who are wearing caps.that picture is the only proof that he had won it.after school on that day he rushed down formans rd and got on a tram to town to meet his mom.no buses on stratford rd in 1927.when he got to town he left the cap on the tram never to be seen again.i am afraid you are a little bit out on freds death .he passed away in 1998.also in the picture is george mason who went on to play and captain coventry.i would be interested if any one can
identify any of the others in the photo

Thanks for this Forum
After leaving Loxton Street in 1964 I went to Kings Norton Grammar School. In those days Grammar Schools were not noted for their football teams but I happened to attend when KNGS had a bumper crop of footballers. In the six years that I attended we won very game that we played but for two, when we had injuries. I was fortunate enough to captain the 1968 Villa Cup winning team (won 2-0 against Hodge Hill) and the 1969 Birmingham City Cup winning team (won 1-0 against Shenly Court). I captained Kings Norton District, Warwickshire Boys and Birmingham and District teams. Problem was that Kings Norton also had a great Basketball Team and we won the national title (my studies suffered) and I was the Warwickshire shot putt champ too. I would really appreciate it if someone has photos of either the Villa Cup winning team or the Birmingham City Cup winning team as I have long since lost my photos (moved to the USA some 30 years ago and my old man threw everything out. I do have both of the medals however. It was certainly a thrill plaing on Villa Park and Saint Andrews. I later spent a brief period at Coventry City but discovered women and that was my downfall. Ah well.
I would love to hear from anyone that remembers me. Good or bad...

Hey Bob....You know...Parker was a teacher of mine at st michaels....was hopeing to see my brothers on here....they both played before I attended the school...although I also played for them a few times but can never remember a photograph with myself on it.
I remember during one summer holiday, I was only 13-14 then...Parker visited at our home in Mount Pleasant.
But great to see this shot.
Many many thanks for taking the time to post it.
Redken.
Ps If you have any more s m team shots ...love to see em.
thanks again.

I think I've posted this before on another thread, but here it is again. It's Aston Commercial in 1943. My uncle was in the team.

Bob & Dave. What great pictures, and to have the names of those in the pics is fantastic after all these years.

I went to St Andrews Junior's and we where East Birmingham League winners and also won the Mathew Boulton Shield in the 1959/60 season. We only lost one game all season and that was in the H M S Shield when Blakenhall Road beat us 1-0. That season Three of us where selected for the Birmingham District team: Roy Niblett,Sreven Broome and myself Micky Donald. Happy days.View attachment 70216

View attachment 70232Can anyone help me with any knowledge of the Birmingham City Youth Team which I believe was called Shirley Juniors. My Grandfather David Wiseman is pictured in the centre of this photograph which I would imagine was taken in the 1930's. Would be very grateful for any assistance. Thank you. Gill

Me again Bob just had another look at your first post Queensbridge road team photo and noticed it was taken at the Moorlands,Moor Greens (now Solihull Moors) Ground. Brought back some good memories as i was at Moor Green from 1964 to 1967, Jackie Badham was the manager and his brother Horace was coach, I learnt a lot from both about the game.

Hi Mickyd,

Did Steven Broom live in Arthur Street. If so he is most probably the son of Arthur Broom who was an old shipmate of mine. Arthur has now, sadly, passed away.

Old Boy

Hi Old Boy, I first knew Steven when I was 7 and he lived in the Holmes flats in Garrison Lane,he had two Brothers Billy & Kevin,I think his Fathers Name was William.

Dermot Bevan here. - You are wrong David ? - I played rugby for BG & held the school javelin record when in 4th year,
beating the 5th & 6th formers. As for football I was never given a chance by Mr Lunn . Bit of a story about that and I still feel annoyed about it, I've never forgotten it.

Hello there, Dermot.
What a pleasant surprise hearing from you again after all these years! How are you?
Firstly, welcome to the Forum. You’ll meet some very knowledgeable and fascinating people among its contributors. I hope you enjoy it.
Coming back to my post (#75), if you look again, you’ll see that it’s inserted into a thread with refers only to soccer. I can well remember your achievements with the javelin and on the rugger pitch, but my posting was in answer to Bob Summers’ comment in Post #73, “but I don't see Dermot on your photo?”
I wrote, “Bob, I'm afraid that Dermot - although very good - just wasn't up to the level of other boys that went on from junior schools to Bordesley Green Tech. I can't recall Dermot ever winning a place in the various BG Tech. School [football] teams. He was picked for his house side at different age levels but never - as far as I can remember - got into the school [football] team. I may be wrong.
Dermot's story runs parallel to mine: I played goalie for Bordesley Green Primary School, but on going to the Tech I found myself up against Malcolm Dudley, who was considered, nay, was, much better that I was.”

I hope you don’t feel offended. I was commenting on your footballing record. I even drew a comparison with my own experiences at The Tech.
Best wishes, David

PS I've reposted the two lost photographs in Posts #2 and #83 so that you can see our former yearmates. D.

Hi Bob - Dermot Bevan here. To whom am I mailing ?

Hello Dermot of Baker Street, Sparkhill, I am Robert Summers (or George) of Newton Road, played behind you in our great team or 1958 at English Martyrs Junior School. Have you lost a bit of your young memory? Welcome to the BHF, there are a lot of threads that I'm sure you will enjoy.
In my time Dermot you where a very Fine and tricky inside forward!! Did you see our old school photo with all the trophies we won together, shame we did not win in the Birmingham Catholic cup final, as I thought we more than shaved it and lost to a lucky goal?
