Birmingham Medal

chocks2

master brummie
Can anyone tell me, what this medal was awarded for and who would have recieved it?
Does anyone know how many were produced and awarded?
I've never seen one and if they were produced in large amounts I feel I would have seen one somewhere before.

Morning Chocks2,

I was surfing BHF and noticed your item on the " Birmingham medal ".

This medal ,but inscibed "Australia", was issed to all school children at the end of WW1 , It was called the Australian peace medalion . I dont know how many were issued must have been in the thousands unfortunaly not many survived,
I have two of them on display at the Pinjarra ( Western Australian country town ) RSL (British legion).

Regards

Ron
