A biography of my sister Hazel Christian can be viewed on www.hazelmysister.hpage.com. This contains references to her life in Lozells, Handsworth & Kingstanding, before she moved to Worcestershire in later life. Hazel was born in 1928 and died in 2009, aged eighty.

Edit - unfortunately the link above no longer works.

Thanks for your kind comments Suzanne & thanks to all who have responded.

Don't know if I put this in the biography, but I remember Burbury Park, just off Wheeler St. Every dry evening (& even some wet ones) a large bunch of local boys would gather for a game of football. By the end of summer, there wasn't a blade of grass left where they played, just a large dry & dusty patch. There was always about 25 a side & you managed to get a kick of the ball every 20 minutes, if you were lucky! More happy days!

Barrie,

I've just read all through your wonderful biography of your sister Hazel, such a pretty lady, such an eventful life.
You have done her proud.

Barrie, what a great read and a lovely tribute to your sister - she must have been such an interesting lady to know.

This was posted quite a while ago, the link no longer works. I'd love to read it.

Hi Emma. Barrie hasn’t visited this site for some years, so afraid the link won’t be accessible unless he sees your post. But thanks for your interest. Viv.

Thanks for that! I've bought it. Now its finding the time to read it. At least its on my phone and not on the teetering pile on my bedside table!
