I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the weird "tunnel" like structures are on the Big Top site, on this aerial photo of the centre of Birmingham from 1938?
Thank you in advance.
Thank you in advance.
So interesting to see the photos of these arcades. I was born after the war and only remember a small portion of these arcades that was left at the top of Union St. I had not realised that there had previously been extensive arcades on the site. TinpotA zoomed in view shows the glass panes of the arcade roofs.

Thanks for the pointer Viv. Those miserable concrete tunnels behind British Home Stores must have been such a disappointment to those that knew the former arcades. TinpotThis might be of interest Tinpot.
