Bennett, Philip George

blessed

knowlegable brummie
BENNETT, PHILIP GEORGE b. 1897 lived at 78 Silver St. King's Heath, according to the 1911 census, lived with his parents, my G. grandparents, William Bennett and Ellen (nee Damms). The 1911 census shows that he was a messenger boy at that time and on his Marriage Certificate as an acetylene welder. My grandfather was the eldest child and his siblings were Ernest Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett, Francis Bennett and Ellen Bennett. Philip's father was a boot maker & dealer. Philip, after serving in W.W1 married Emma Elizabeth Byfield and they both, with my 3year old father, George William, migrated to Victoria, Australia in 1923. Also on Philip and Emma's marriage certificate shows that Emma was the manageress of a pawn shop, which I believe may have been family owned, but I have not the addresses of where the shop was or where my grandfather worked as a welder or in fact where his war medals are, or whom he may have left them with. Any relatives out there whom may have any information about anything about my dear grandparents would be most grateful. Thankyou from 'Down-under'.

The 1921 Kellys, which would refer to 1920, records a pawnbroker, Ernest Bennett, at 54 Stoney Lane, Sparkbrook

Most appreciated mikejee for the interesting information regarding Ernest Bennett recorded as a pawnbroker. I thought the business was probably owned by the Byfields, my grandmother' family. Thankyou.
