In the early 1980s my old school St Georges Comprehensive performed an old style musical hall night in the upstairs function room at the Bartons Arms (I doubt a school could perform a show in a pub these days but.....).

I was shocked when I read this in the morning paper today . I have a lot of fond memories of this pub from when I lived in the area . What I'd like to know is , The Red Pub Co from Tipton are holding the licence for this premises , are a company from the Black Country really that qualified to know the temperamennt of the Brummie's I doubt it .
I passed it a couple of times last night. The pub was in darkness, with no boards up at the windows. I hope the local police are keeping an eye on it, because it presently looks an easy target for the vandals, who appear to like nothing better than to destroy our old pubs and don't seem to care about what they are doing.
