  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

Barston Home Guard - William Snipe

Hi all

I'm new to the site, my name is Nicki. I was wondering if anyone has any information regarding the Barston Home Guard? My great grandfather William Snipe was in the Barston Home Guard during WW2 and I am trying to obtain a platoon number so I can research further.

Other names that were in the same platoon were Thomas Prentice, Mr Wicks, Herbert Riley, George Price, Alfred Manners, Arthur Beesley, Joyce Ledbrook (Admin), Alfred Jackson and Harry Pinfold.

I hope someone knows something about the Barston Home Guard. But it's a question of striking lucky. Available information on individual HG units is very sketchy. This website page is written to help with the tracing of individual members but is also partially relevant to their units too.
